The Smart Transport Safety Research Lab (STSR-Lab) provides a platform to conduct cutting-edge research on transport safety. Our Lab focuses on developing intelligent technologies to enhance the theoretical understanding of road safety dynamics at transport facilities and to develop efficient and low-cost countermeasures for road traffic infrastructure.

STSR-Lab provides excellent opportunities for higher-degree research students (e.g., PhD, MPhil) to join the Lab and get training on cutting-edge transport safety research. We are proud of the accomplishments our team has made in the research, and we are excited to further advance the scientific knowledge in our field.

Our Lab has brought together multiple national and international experts and collaborators from different disciplines to work together on various research topics, including Traffic Conflict Analysis, Engineering Factors in Traffic Operation and Safety, Human Factors and Driving Behaviour, Vulnerable Road Users, and Connected and Automated Vehicles. The research projects in STSR-Lab have been founded through the Australian Research Council (ARC) schemes and various government authorities in Transport. The founder of STSR-Lab, Professor Shimul Haque, has also co-founded the Advanced Mobility Analytics Group (AMAG), which provides a world-leading platform in transport analytics by applying artificial intelligence and machine learning that support decision-making for transportation network safety, real-time operations, asset management, and network modelling functions.
